Energía Austral’s Healthcare Infrastructure Improvement Programme seeks to increase access to care for all sectors of the population. 

In 2008, the company donated a portable ultrasound machine to the Puerto Aysén Hospital, enabling it to attend patients who live a long way from the urban centres of the Aysén municipal district.

In addition, in order to protect existing health infrastructure from the impact of an influx of workers during the project’s construction, Energía Austral has an agreement with the local branch of the Mutual de Seguridad, an occupational health and safety organisation, for the construction of an outpatient medical centre in Puerto Aysén. This will attend both the company’s employees and members of the community and will remain in operation after the project’s construction is completed.
