Together with the Universidad Tecnológica de Chile (INACAP), Energía Austral has implemented a training programme for the community in a bid to increase the employability of the people of Aysén and contribute to their quality of life. 

Over four years, it has offered 15 courses, with an average duration of 150 hours, in fields that will enable the people taking them to work for Energía Austral in the future as well as in the Region’s traditional activities such as tourism, welding, structural masonry and industrial assembly. Since 2007, some 260 people have received training under this programme.

Energía Austral has designed a programme to provide the Aysén municipal district’s primary schools with libraries. In this project, it has adopted the standards defined by the Education Ministry and, since 2008, has established a total of nine libraries, benefitting an important number of schoolchildren. 

Since 2009, Energía Austral has implemented a programme of social investment funds to which ideas and initiatives generated by pupils and their schools can apply for funding. This has benefitted projects that seek to increase awareness of the importance of responsible, informed and friendly coexistence with the environment as well as research, workshops, laboratories and cultural and recreational initiatives.
